The Translucent Tower will jointly commemorate brothers Henry & Christopher Oldfield by creating a contemporary garden folly for a much loved East Kent family garden which is also regularly open to the public.  It joins other historic follies within the Grade II listed Edwardian garden.  

The Tower creates a glazed First Floor summerhouse & a Second Floor public viewing platform enjoying great elevated vistas over the Sunken Garden, the Rock Garden & the valley beyond.  The swirling double staircase makes a virtue of the Building Regulation requirement to have separate public upwards & downwards access.

The proposed location within the garden completes an important axis but sits apart from the separately listed Doddington Place built by Thomas Croft’s great grandparents as a family home in the 1860’s.
